In a joint statement posted to Instagram, G.R.L. Members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen shared their grief:
"It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren. Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved."
Born on 24 June 1989, in Meopham, Kent, Bennett’s entry into the music industry began as a teenager. After competing on the British television series The X Factor, she relocated to Los Angeles at age 17. Her professional career gained momentum when she was selected as one of the members of the Paradiso Girls, a group formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. The group debuted in 2009 with the single "Patron Tequila," featuring Eve and Lil' Jon, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.
Following the dissolution of the Paradiso Girls in 2010, Bennett pursued a solo career, recording with artists including CeeLo Green and will.i.am. Her most prominent commercial success arrived in 2011 as a featured vocalist on LMFAO’s "Party Rock Anthem." The song became a worldwide phenomenon, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks. According to Luminate, the track has generated 1 billion official on-demand streams and 8.3 million sales in the United States.
Bennett later joined the girl group G.R.L. Her work with the group included the 2014 single "Wild Wild Love," a collaboration with Pitbull, and the track "Ugly Heart." The group’s history was impacted by the 2014 death of member Simone Battle. Following Battle's death, G.R.L. Released the tribute single "Lighthouse" and partnered with the mental health organization Give an Hour. Reflecting on that period, Bennett stated that the experience of losing a friend to suicide and witnessing mental health struggles within her own family influenced her creative output, including the release of her solo track "Hurricane."
Bennett's career remained diverse throughout the following decade. She appeared on Nick Martin’s 2016 single "Reality" and formed a folk, country, blues and rock duo called BENNETT with her brother, Ryan, in 2017. G.R.L. Members continued to collaborate on various projects over the years, reuniting briefly as a four-piece group in 2020. Prior to her death, Bennett remained active on social media, where she shared musical performances, including a cover of the Nancy Sinatra song "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'" in February 2026.
Bennett is survived by her 6-year-old daughter, Harlow, whom she shared with actor and dancer Kenny Wormald.
