The death of performer Lauren Bennett has initiated a formal investigation by authorities in the United Kingdom as family, friends, and former colleagues prepare for an inquest scheduled for October. Bennett, who was born in Meopham, Kent, died on May 29. While news of her passing became public on July 6, the Kent and Medway Coroner Service opened its inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death on June 12.

Official records from the Medway Council note that coroner investigations and subsequent inquests are standard procedures when a cause of death is unknown, as well as when a death is violent or unnatural, or when a person dies in prison, police custody or otherwise in state custody. As of July 7, the specific cause of the 36-year-old artist's death has not been disclosed to the public. The investigation is expected to continue for several months, with the legal process culminating in the scheduled October proceedings.

The gathering drew members from throughout her career, including collaborators from the Paradiso Girls and the group G.R.L. Bennett’s professional trajectory began in the United Kingdom when she competed on The X Factor in 2006. Shortly thereafter, at age 17, she relocated to the United States to join the Paradiso Girls, a project overseen by Robin Antin. The group saw moderate success with their 2009 debut single, "Patron Tequila," which featured Lil Jon and Eve.
Her most prominent international recognition arrived in 2011, when she provided vocals for LMFAO’s global hit "Party Rock Anthem." The song spent six weeks atop the Hot 100. Her versatility also led to soundtrack contributions for films including 21 Jump Street and Date Night, along with collaborations featuring artists such as CeeLo Green and will.i.am.
By 2013, Bennett joined G.R.L., a group that achieved chart success with "Ugly Heart." However, the group’s trajectory shifted significantly in 2014 following the death of bandmate Simone Battle. Bennett became an advocate for mental health awareness in the wake of that tragedy. Promoting the tribute single "Lighthouse" in 2015, she spoke to the responsibility of those in the public eye.
