Kensington Launches New Thunderbolt 5 Dock With Triple 4K Support
Kensington has officially entered the Thunderbolt 5 market with the launch of the SD5010T5 EQ Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station. Announced May 26, 2026, the device is engineered to address data bottlenecks in high-demand professional environments, including artificial intelligence applications and 8K video editing workflows. According to company statements, the dock aims to provide a practical, accessible bridge to the performance capabilities of the new standard.
Bandwidth and Technical Performance
The core of the SD5010T5 is its ability to manage massive data throughput via a single cable. The docking station delivers 80Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth, which can be increased to 120Gbps for video-intensive tasks through the integrated Bandwidth Boost feature. Giovanni Sena, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Kensington, emphasized the utility of this leap in capacity:
"Thunderbolt™ 5 sets a new standard for performance, and the SD5010T5 is designed to make that power practical and accessible for everyday professionals."

Industry stakeholders view this hardware as a critical component for modern computing. Ben Hacker, General Manager of the Client Connectivity Division at Intel, noted the role of these solutions in the current technological climate:
"As AI workloads, high-resolution content creation, and data-intensive applications continue to accelerate, Thunderbolt™ 5 technology delivers the bandwidth needed to move data, connect devices, and power multiple displays at unprecedented speeds. Docking solutions are essential to unlocking that full capability."

Display and Power Capabilities
The dock’s display output capabilities are determined by the host operating system and specific chipset architecture. For Windows users, the dock supports up to three 4K displays at 144Hz or two 8K displays at 60Hz. The configuration for Apple MacBook users is more variable; models with M4/M5 base chips and M-series Pro or Max chipsets can support two 4K displays at 60Hz via the HDMI ports, or a combination of one 4K and one 6K display via the Thunderbolt 5 port. When utilizing M5 Pro or M5 Max silicon, the dock manages up to three external displays.
The device utilizes USB-C PD 3.1, offering up to 140W of dynamic power delivery to the host laptop. An additional feature, KonstantCharge, ensures that peripherals attached to the dock continue to receive power even when the host laptop is disconnected.
Connectivity and Design
The 13-in-1 design features a variety of ports to accommodate diverse professional setups:
Two Thunderbolt 5 ports (one host, one downstream)
Two HDMI ports
One USB-A 10Gbps port
Two USB-A 5Gbps ports
Two USB-C 10Gbps ports
One 2.5Gbps Ethernet port
Dual SD/MicroSD 4.0 card slots
One audio combo jack
The physical construction of the dock consists of 100% post-consumer recycled aluminum, and the shipping materials carry certification from the Forest Stewardship Council. For workstation organization, users can purchase an optional mounting bracket (K34050WW) to implement a zero-footprint setup. Security cable lock slots are also included to protect the hardware in hybrid or shared office environments.
Compatibility and Practical Considerations
The SD5010T5 is compatible with Windows 11 and macOS 14.5 or later. The dock is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, USB4, and USB-C devices. Users of the dock have access to Kensington’s free DockWorks software, which allows for the customization of connection profiles and performance settings on Windows machines.
The docking station is currently available in North America through the Kensington Store and authorized retail partners, accompanied by a three-year limited warranty.
