An emergency evacuation of passengers from the cruise ship Hondius following a Hantavirus outbreak has faced a new complication after a French national began exhibiting symptoms during a repatriation flight.
Symptoms Emerge During Flight
The situation escalated during a flight transporting passengers away from the affected vessel. According to reports, a French guest began showing signs of illness while in the air, raising concerns about the spread of the virus during the transit process.
Repatriation from Tenerife
The evacuation efforts have been centered in Tenerife, where passengers and crew members have been departing via special flights to return to their home countries. Among those evacuated were four German passengers who departed from the island to return to Germany.

Anxiety Aboard the Hondius
The outbreak has created a climate of distress among those on the ship. The tension surrounding the vessel’s status and the health of its occupants was highlighted by one passenger’s plea:
“If anyone sees the ship, let us know!”
The evacuation continues as authorities manage the transport of remaining passengers and monitor those already repatriated for potential symptoms of the virus.
