Russian overnight missile and drone barrage on Kyiv kills two and injures ten

According to figures released by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, five of the wounded required hospitalization, with two patients in critical condition. For local residents, the sudden violence marked a brutal return to reality. In the wider Kyiv region, Russian drone strikes targeted the Boryspil and Fastiv districts. Industrial enterprises in Boryspil caught fire, destroying seven trucks, while a local logistics complex was struck twice before firefighters successfully extinguished the blazes.

Nationwide Strikes and Conflicting Claims

The barrage extended far beyond the capital, striking critical infrastructure and population centers in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. In the south, a regular market in the suburbs of Odesa was hit, injuring one person, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper. In Kharkiv, regional governor Oleh Synyehubov reported that two people sustained injuries and a multistory residential building suffered damage within the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, in the Sumy region, a passenger train operating between Sumy and Kyiv was targeted at a railway station, forcing the evacuation of 90 passengers, as reported by regional governor Oleh Hryhorov.

Russian tactical aircraft also deployed KAB guided aerial bombs against frontline positions and civilian structures in eastern regions. Contradicting the accounts provided by Ukrainian authorities regarding residential and civilian infrastructure damage, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that the overnight strikes exclusively targeted military-industrial facilities, logistics hubs, warehouse centers, and military installations in Kyiv and the surrounding region.
