The service allows active cellular identity to migrate between devices upon unlocking, targeting users who alternate between hardware like the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro.
The iPhone Duo features a wider geometry and iOS 27, replacing Face ID with Touch ID and measuring 5.2mm when open.
Unlike previous continuity tools, iPhone Handoff operates at the network level, enabling a secondary device to function as a standalone cellular phone.
The iOS 27 public beta is now available, introducing a major overhaul to Siri with advanced AI capabilities and deep system integration across Apple devices.
Apple is moving away from its tradition of a single autumn release by staggering the iPhone 18 lineup across two distinct launch windows. The premium Pro and foldable models are slated for September 2026, while entry-level models are deferred until early 2027.
