A new health center in Rennes, France, is attempting to reshape the patient experience by integrating a wide array of medical professionals under one roof. The Maison de Santé Pluriprofessionnelle (MSP) de Villejean focuses on a model of “global care,” moving away from the traditionally fragmented approach to outpatient medicine.
A Multidisciplinary Approach to Care
The facility brings together a diverse team of practitioners to ensure comprehensive treatment within a single ecosystem. The staff includes seven general practitioners and two nurses, supported by a suite of specialists including a psychologist, dietitian, podiatrist, speech therapist, and physiotherapist.
By housing these various disciplines in one location, the center aims to treat the patient as a whole person rather than focusing on isolated symptoms. This collaborative environment is designed to streamline the patient journey and ensure that different aspects of a person’s health are addressed in tandem.
Integration Through Shared Data
The operational model of the center is described as unconventional within the medical community due to its high level of systemic integration.

This software allows the different providers within the practice to access the same patient data, eliminating the need for patients to repeat their medical history and current symptoms every time they move from a general practitioner to a specialist.
Beyond digital integration, the team maintains human synchronization through weekly coordination meetings. These sessions allow the various professionals to discuss complex cases and align their treatment strategies, ensuring that the care plan is consistent across all disciplines.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to combat the rise of “medical deserts”—areas with an insufficient number of healthcare providers—and to improve overall accessibility to care.
