A McDonald’s franchise in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, will sell hamburgers for 15 cents and cheeseburgers for 20 cents on Friday, Oct. 25, to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The promotional event restores menu pricing to 1974 levels, the year the location opened as the first McDonald’s in the Mauricie region, according to local media reports.

The promotion applies specifically to two menu items, reflecting the cost of those products five decades ago. According to local reports, the hamburger will be priced at 0.15 CAD and the cheeseburger at 0.20 CAD. To manage demand and ensure inventory availability, the franchise has implemented a purchase limit of five burgers per person.

Regional Business History

The restaurant established itself as a regional pioneer when it opened in 1974, marking the entry of the fast-food giant into the Mauricie area. The location is currently operated by Jean-Pierre-Antoine and his family. The decision to slash prices for the anniversary serves as a marketing gesture to acknowledge the long-term relationship between the business and its local customer base.

We want to thank the population for their loyalty over the years.
Jean-Pierre-Antoine, Franchise Owner

By aligning current prices with 1974 figures, the business highlights the inflation gap over the last 50 years, effectively using a loss-leader strategy to drive foot traffic and community engagement for the milestone event.
