Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour to star in new Netflix spy series
Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour will star in an untitled Netflix spy drama developed by A24 and writer Jack Thorne. The project features the duo as an estranged father and daughter caught in an FBI crisis.
Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour are extending their professional partnership beyond the fictional town of Hawkins. Following their shared tenure in the long-running hit Stranger Things, the actors are set to reunite for an untitled spy drama series commissioned by Netflix. The announcement, which confirms a straight-to-series order, comes following the conclusion of the series finale for their previous collaboration.
The new production, developed in partnership with the studio A24, centers on the complicated dynamic between an estranged father and daughter. In this narrative, David Harbour portrays Matt Wolfe, a disgraced FBI agent who has transitioned into the role of a security expert. His quiet life is interrupted when his daughter, Rebecca, portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown, disappears while on an FBI assignment. According to the official series synopsis:
"Disgraced FBI agent turned security expert Matt Wolfe (Harbour) is drawn back into the world he left behind when his estranged daughter, Rebecca (Brown) — now an FBI agent determined to follow in his footsteps — vanishes on a mission, forcing him to return to a field that has evolved beyond him."
The creative vision for the project belongs to Jack Thorne, a writer noted for his work on Adolescence. Jinny Howe, the head of scripted series for Netflix in the U.S. And Canada, expressed confidence in the creative team and the actors' chemistry, noting the shift in their working relationship from their previous project.
"Jack Thorne’s ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite — this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis — is something audiences are going to love. A24 is the perfect partner to bring this story to our members around the world."
Beyond their roles in front of the camera, both Brown and Harbour are serving as executive producers for the untitled show. They are joined in an executive producing capacity by Jack Thorne, as well as Jake Bongiovi and Robert Brown, who represent PCMA Productions. Additional production oversight is provided by Joe Hipps and Patrick McDonald for Cut To, and KC Wenson for Bravo Axolotl.
The project arrives as both stars manage busy schedules. Brown is slated to return to the Enola Holmes franchise for its third installment alongside Henry Cavill. Meanwhile, Harbour, who recently appeared in the dark comedy series DTF St. Louis, is preparing to reprise his role as Alexei Shostakov, also known as the Red Guardian, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Doomsday.
The spy drama is part of an expanding content slate at Netflix, which includes upcoming titles such as BEEF Season 2, Man on Fire, Nemesis, East of Eden, and The Altruists. The new series has not been assigned an official title or a release window.
