President Claudia Sheinbaum has canceled her scheduled activities in Zacatecas planned for this Sunday, according to reports from La Jornada and El Universal. The Presidency announced that the events will be rescheduled, while Infobae reports the decision follows a disagreement with the CNTE in Aguascalientes.
Why the Zacatecas Visit Was Canceled
The decision to scrap the Sunday itinerary follows a conflict with the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), according to Infobae. The report attributes the cancellation to a “desencuentro,” or disagreement, that occurred during events in Aguascalientes.
While other outlets such as El Universal and La Jornada confirmed the cancellation of the tour activities, Infobae is the primary source linking the move to the friction with the educators’ union.
Official Status of the Tour
The Presidency has stated that the activities in Zacatecas are not permanently removed from the calendar. According to La Jornada, the administration confirmed that the events will be rescheduled for a later date.
The visit had been previously announced by the DMA and reported by NTR Zacatecas and La Jornada Zacatecas as a confirmed appearance for the upcoming Sunday before the abrupt change in schedule.
