A new standard in hand-finishing has been set by Greubel Forsey with the introduction of the Balancier QM, a stunning timepiece that showcases the brand's expertise in high-end watchmaking. This new bar applies to every component within the caliber, totaling 298 pieces. The watch is offered in a perfectly wearable case.

The Balancier QM features a 39.6mm diameter case made of 18K white gold, with a total thickness of 12.25mm, including sapphire crystals on both sides. The water resistance is up to 30 meters, and the watch comes with a blue hand-sewn rubber strap and a white gold pin buckle. Greubel Forsey's prowess in manual finishing is already legendary, but the brand has decided to up the ante further with the new Qualité Musée standard, carried out by the brand's Experimental Watch Technology (EWT) Laboratory.

The materials used in the caliber are impressive, with rhodium-plated gold and nickel silver used throughout, and details abound on every piece. Wheels show hand-created sinks, and jewels have convex tops that catch light. The creation of the base components is also noteworthy, with Greubel Forsey priding itself on internal production, including the creation of the alloy, drawing the material, coiling it, and thermally treating the parts within its manufacture.

The time is easy to read on the Balancier QM, with an offset sub-dial and blued hands that match the strap perfectly. A 72-hour power reserve scale sits below this dial, adding an architectural element to the design. The case back displays a simple but beautiful portrait of the in-house GF09CM movement, which has 72 hours of power reserve and a frequency of 21,600 vph. The movement contains two coaxial series-coupled fast-rotating barrels, one equipped with a slipping spring to prevent excess tension, and a five-arm motor wheel is visible on the front side.

Greubel Forsey has been making waves in the watchmaking industry with its recent releases, including the Balancier Convexe S2, which is now being phased out with two limited editions of 11 pieces each. The Balancier Convexe S2 features a curved, variable-geometry case and crystal, with a 41.5mm caseband and a 44mm bezel width. The movement has a multi-level, openworked suspended-arch bridge, straight-grained and polished, with olived-domed jewels in gold chatons throughout.

The brand has also introduced the new Balancier 3, which joins the Convexe collection with a slimmer profile and highly wearable 41.5mm proportions. The Balancier 3 features a signature case design with an even slimmer profile. The dial offers insight into the movement, with the display of three prominent bridges, each featuring the brand's trademark hand finishes.

The development of the movement for the Balancier 3 marks another achievement for the brand, with a focus on creating a simple, streamlined, and contemporary design. The two series-coupled fast-rotating barrels provide a chronometric power reserve of three full days, and the power reserve is shown on the case back for the first time in the Convexe collection.
