Kenia López Rabadán has issued a public demand for former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to cease his interference in the current administration, urging him to allow President Claudia Sheinbaum to govern independently.
Demands for Administrative Independence
The call for a clear separation of power comes as López Rabadán explicitly asked López Obrador to avoid obstructing Sheinbaum‘s leadership. This tension has intensified following reports of a letter concerning Donald Trump, prompting López Rabadán to insist that the former president step aside.

“Let the President govern.”
According to public statements, the push for independence is centered on the belief that Sheinbaum must have the autonomy to manage the country’s affairs without the shadow of her predecessor’s influence.
Tensions Over Security, and U.S. Relations
The dispute extends beyond internal governance to the broader geopolitical climate. López Rabadán has specifically called on López Obrador to refrain from intervening in accusations made by the United States regarding drug trafficking.
Beyond the diplomatic friction with the U.S., López Rabadán has been vocal in attributing the current security crisis and the strained relationship between the two nations directly to the policies and actions of López Obrador. By holding the former president responsible for these tensions, she has framed his continued involvement as a hindrance to resolving critical national security issues.
