Law enforcement agencies in Belgium and France dismantled an international illegal IPTV piracy network, seizing more than 1 million euros and arresting a founder in Brussels, according to reports from local media. The operation, coordinated with Europol, targeted the Noos+ network, immediately terminating service for its global subscriber base.

  • Total Seizures: More than 1 million euros in assets.
  • Key Arrest: The network founder was detained in Brussels.
  • Jurisdictions: Joint operation involving Belgian police (Boraine) and French police (Gironde).
  • Target: The illegal streaming service known as Noos+.

How the Noos+ Network Was Dismantled

The takedown resulted from a joint effort between police forces in the Gironde region of France and the Boraine region of Belgium. According to local media reports, the investigation targeted the infrastructure of Noos+, an international piracy network that illegally redistributed television platforms. The operation culminated in the arrest of one of the network’s founders in Brussels.

The Boraine police reported being on the front lines of the operation to dismantle the vast network, which operated across borders to bypass legitimate subscription fees for televised content.

Financial Losses for Consumers and Law Enforcement Seizures

While police seized over 1 million euros from the operation, individual customers faced immediate financial losses. Because these services operate outside legal frameworks, subscribers have no consumer protections or avenues for refunds when services are terminated by authorities.

One subscriber from the Huy region, identified as Caroline, reported losing 120 euros she had recently paid for a subscription just before the network vanished.

“From one day to the next, everything stopped,”

Caroline stated, according to reports from Sudinfo.

The contrast between the million-euro seizure by the state and the unrecoverable losses of individual users highlights the inherent financial risk of the “grey market” for digital content.

Why Europol Is Targeting Illegal IPTV Services

The crackdown on Noos+ is part of a broader strategic push by Europol to target illegal IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) services across Europe. According to reports from Virgule.lu, Belgium has come under increased pressure from the agency to aggressively pursue these networks.

Illegal IPTV services impact the broader media economy by diverting revenue away from legitimate content creators and broadcasters. By utilizing illegal servers to stream copyrighted material, these networks avoid paying licensing fees, which undermines the business models of official streaming platforms and cable providers.
