North West cancels first headlining tour days before launch

Promotional imagery for the Kimokawaii Tour featured a colorful, punk-influenced aesthetic designed to mirror the Japanese term for something simultaneously strange, unsettling, and cute. By late July, that imagery had been replaced by the starkness of a 404 – Page Not Found error on the tour's official website and canceled notices across Ticketmaster and AXS.

The 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has called off her first headlining venture just days before it was scheduled to launch. The 14-date North American run with rapper Molly Santana was set to begin August 5 at the House of Blues in Dallas. The collapse leaves fans who spent hard-earned money and arranged travel for dates across the U.S. And Canada without an official explanation for the sudden pivot.

North West confirmed the news via Instagram Stories on July 30, stating:

"I was really excited to go on tour [with] Molly Santana, sadly it isn’t happening anymore, but I have something special for you guys, see you soon,"

While North’s message remained brief and optimistic, Santana, 21, issued a more detailed apology. Acknowledging the professional and financial stakes for her audience, Santana wrote that she knows fans had taken time out of your busy schedules and promised to make this one up to you, teasing a forthcoming project titled Black Punk. According to Billboard, spokespeople for both artists did not return requests for confirmation on the cancellation at the time of their reporting.

The scale of the vanished tour suggests a significant logistical undertaking for a 13-year-old. The itinerary included major hubs such as New York, Chicago, Toronto, and Boston, concluding at The Novo in Los Angeles on August 27. Despite the widespread cancellations, Consequence noted that a performance at The Midway in San Francisco for August 25 remained visible on that specific venue's website even after other dates were scrubbed.

The Professional Trajectory

The Kimokawaii Tour was intended to capitalize on a rapid ascent in the music industry. In May, North released her self-produced six-track debut EP, N0rth4evr, which included the song Piercing On My Hand—a track addressing the public attention surrounding her blue hair and piercings. Her professional portfolio already included high-profile collaborations, such as a verse in English and Japanese for FKA Twigs’ Childlike Things on the album Eusexua and an appearance on Ye’s 2024 track Talking / Once Again.

North had already tested the waters of live performance through two major festivals in 2026:

• May 9: A surprise appearance during Santana's set at Rolling Loud in Orlando.
• June 12: A solo music festival debut at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash in Bridgeview, Illinois, where she performed songs from N0rth4evr and the collaboration Aishite.

This industry momentum was heavily bolstered by the Kardashian-Jenner family. Kim Kardashian promoted the tour via her social media, while Kris, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian publicly streamed the debut EP. On the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kardashian emphasized that she would never take that creativity away from her daughter, though she noted that parenting a preteen requires a little bit of grace.

However, the ambition of a multi-city tour has drawn criticism from some onlookers. According to PrimeTimer, internet reactions to the cancellation included claims that North is way too young to do that and that she does not have enough original music to sustain a full tour.

Safety and the Public Eye

The sudden cancellation follows a period of intense scrutiny regarding North's safety as a child celebrity. One specific clip showed North offering a handshake, only for a man to lean in for a hug.

British rapper Skepta publicly criticized these interactions on X, stating that the way grown men, complete strangers, try to use North makes me sick. He argued that a 13-year-old's gesture for a handshake should be respected, sparking a wider debate about whether North is receiving adequate protection from the adult crowds that follow her.

Ticketmaster has stated that refunds for the canceled dates will be issued automatically to the original payment methods, with funds typically appearing within 14 to 21 days. While the logistics of the refund are clear, the reason for the tour's collapse remains opaque.

The transition from a 14-city North American tour to a vague promise of something special leaves the immediate future of North West's live career unresolved. It remains unclear if the Kimokawaii dates will be rescheduled or if the project has been replaced entirely by a new venture.
