In a surprising move, Gold Logie nominee Julia Morris has revealed that she believes her former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Australia co-host Robert Irwin is the most deserving of the coveted prize. Morris, who has been nominated for her fifth Gold Logie award, made the comments in an interview with Stellar magazine, saying "I think the best idea is to give it to someone else. And when I say someone else, obviously I mean Robert."

Morris' endorsement of Irwin is a significant boost to the 22-year-old's chances of winning the award, which will be presented at the 66th TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday, August 16. Irwin, who will also host the ceremony, is up against a strong field of nominees, including Morris, Ally Langdon, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow, Sam Pang, and Todd Woodbridge.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, Morris has worked with Irwin on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! for the past two years and has seen firsthand his dedication and passion for his work. "He's like a perfectly formed human," Morris said of Irwin. "No one needs to be worried about the future if we've got young people like Robert coming through. I think we're gonna be fine."

The nominees for the 2026 TV Week Logie Awards were announced last month, with the ABC leading the way with 41 nominations across almost every category. As reported by The Nightly, Prime Video is the most nominated streamer, picking up 11 nominations, including one for Jacob Elordi for his role in The Narrow Road To The Deep North.

In a statement, Irwin said hosting the Logies is "one of the most exciting things I've been asked to do". As reported by Oversixty, Irwin replaces Sam Pang, who fronted the Logies for the past three years and earned strong reviews for his performances.

Morris, who has been in the industry for over 40 years, has spoken about the challenges she has faced, including being the subject of scandalous headlines. As reported by Mediaweek, Morris said "the Australian media and the media landscape as a whole is not kind to women as they age. They're not particularly kind to opinionated women or women with a loud laugh."

The 66th TV Week Logie Awards will be broadcast live from Sydney on Seven on Sunday, August 16. Voting is now open and will remain open until 7pm on Saturday, August 15.

Morris' support for Irwin is not surprising, given their close working relationship on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!. The two have developed a strong bond over the past two years, with Morris often praising Irwin's work ethic and dedication to his craft. As reported by Daily Mail, Morris even brought a cardboard cutout of Irwin to the Logie nominations announcement, after he was unable to attend in person.

Irwin's nomination for the Gold Logie is a significant achievement, given his relatively short time in the industry. However, his experience hosting I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and his charismatic on-screen presence have made him a fan favorite.
