The singer, currently 64, stopped the concert after 90 minutes on stage, informing the crowd that a sinus infection had compromised his vocal ability and was causing him significant physical discomfort. This event was the eighth of a scheduled nine-night residency at the New York City arena.

The interruption arrived after the performance of 14 songs. Before his final number, the singer addressed the thousands in attendance to express his regret.

"I know I'm letting you down and it's not like me to do that. We're gonna do one more song, and I'm gonna need you're help. We might have to cool it because I'm [expletive] hurting."

To navigate the finale, the band was joined by Pat Monahan of the group Train for the song "Livin' on a Prayer." During the track, the frontman relied on the audience to carry the vocal workload. Once the song concluded, the singer assured fans that while he needed to end the night, he intended to compensate for the shortened show.

"Don't throw away your ticket stubs, I'm gonna figure something out, OK? Just hold onto it, we'll figure out how to reschedule. But I'm gonna have to cool it for the night. I feel great. I'll see you again soon, goodnight."

Following his departure from the stage, a representative for the artist confirmed to media outlets that the early exit was directly caused by the sinus infection. This residency serves as a milestone for the band, which formed in New Jersey in 1983, marking their return to large-scale live performances after a four-year hiatus that included vocal cord surgery in 2022. Though the singer had recently declared himself "fully recovered" and noted that he had maintained his discipline as a "trained vocalist" throughout his career, the incident at Madison Square Garden prompted immediate questions regarding his vocal health.
