Morocco’s granulated phosphate exports surged at the start of 2026, reflecting a robust uptick in the shipment of the critical mineral during the opening months of the year.
Strengthening Morocco’s Export Position
According to local reports, the country exported 3.34 million tonnes of granulated phosphates during the first four months of 2026. This volume represents a 12% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

The growth in granulated phosphate shipments is a key indicator for the broader agricultural economy. Because phosphates are a primary component in the production of fertilizers, an increase in export volume typically signals stronger global demand for soil nutrients, which are essential for maintaining crop yields and ensuring food security.
By increasing the flow of processed granulated phosphates, Morocco continues to leverage its position as a dominant player in the global mining and fertilizer markets, translating its natural resource wealth into tangible trade growth.
