Mario Soto has resigned as the coordinator for the Morena party in the Nuevo León Congress, according to reports from local media outlets including El Norte and Proceso. The resignation removes Soto from his leadership role within the legislative body’s Morena caucus.
Allegations of Influence and Political Friction
The leadership change coincides with public accusations regarding Soto’s allegiances. A state leader from the National Action Party (PAN) claimed that Soto was operating
“at the service” of Samuel García
, the Governor of Nuevo León, according to Reporte Indigo.

This friction highlights a divide within the state congress, as the PAN leadership suggests that the Morena coordinator’s actions were aligned with the governor’s interests rather than those of his own party’s legislative agenda.
Warnings of Political Persecution
Amidst the leadership transition, Carlos de la Fuente has issued a warning regarding the treatment of Morena legislators. According to records from the H. Congreso de Nuevo León, De la Fuente cautioned that there is a possibility of political persecution targeting deputies from the Morena party.
The resignation was also confirmed by La Silla Rota, which noted that Soto has stepped down from the party’s legislative bench in the state congress.
